Prof. Gross has pursued basic and applied research in the fields of computer graphics,
image generation, geometric modeling, computer animation, and scientific visualization
for more than 30 years.
He founded the Computer Graphics Laboratory at ETH Zurich in 1994, and he has established a
strong research track since then.

From 2004-2008 he has served as the head of the Institute of Computational Science.
In 2008 he was appointed director of the newly founded Disney's Research Laboratory in Zurich,
a position he holds on top of his faculty appointment at ETH. The lab's research areas can be

The spectrum of his technical achievements includes point-based computer graphics, virtual reality systems,
3D video, and physically based animation.
